NS-20 Voltage Sensors and SS-30 Current Sensors are used as fault detectors in insulated or grounded overhead grids within the system for remote control of switch disconnectors, e.g. Remote Terminals DT-20RN. The Voltage Sensors NS-20 consist of a non-conventional voltage elements (capacitive dividers) and are used to measure the voltages UL1, UL2, UL3. Voltage Sensor is distributed in the medium voltage cable connector and the IK-20S Fault Indicator, and via the PK terminal box and the cable it is connected to the Fault Indicator embedded in the disconnecting switch Remote Terminal. SS-30 Current Sensors are simply mounted on the insulators of cable connectors and are used to measure the currents IL1, IL2, IL3.
IK-20S Fault Indicator is an intelligent electronic unit that accepts current signals from three SS-30 Current Sensors and voltage signals from six SS-20 Voltage Sensors, and processes and detects a ground fault and short circuit in an insulated or grounded overhead grid. Short circuit detection is based on current measurement, and detection of a directional ground fault is determined by transient analysis of residual current and voltage.
