UST-3 Monitoring and Control Terminal is used for remote control, monitoring, and signaling of an expandable or compact medium voltage switchgear. The control of the switchgear apparatus (disconnecting switches, circuit breakers) is carried out by means of communication via the CJ-50 Central Unit, Info Terminal IT-1 or KJ-10 Communication Unit. In addition to the control function, UST-3 performs monitoring of switchger state on local LED elements. The Monitoring and Control Terminal also allows the remote control function of the fault indicator (e.g. IK-5) as well as the transformer protection relay (e.g. NR-300) via the digital inputs.
Depending on the complexity and importance of the medium voltage plant, the UST-3 Monitoring and Control Terminals are integrated in communication link with the DT-10TSp Remote Terminal via IT-1 or KJ-10 and represent a very economical part of the remote control system of a complex switchgear assembled from a series of modules. If UST-3 is mounted in a single expandable switching module, the communication link with the Remote Terminal provides great savings in the cabling of the plant and saves time during commissioning and service. The optical connection provides high resistance to interference, i.e. increases the reliability and availability of the system. If the UST-3 is installed in the common cabinet of the DT series, the RS485 connection is used for interconnection as well as connection with the KJ-10 Communication Unit or IT-1 Info Terminal
